All the Queen's Men at Sky
Bar
When
I heard that my favorite voice in Boston just joined up
the All the Queen's Men, I had to experience it first hand.
Entering the Sky Bar I can hear a live version of one of
the songs from January, my #4 top CD of 1999. I'm excited
already.
There
stands Christine Zufferey (January/Sabot), a big fluffy-collar
jacket hugging her torso, exuding her unique deep, rich
vocals. She's surrounded by a band that I was impressed
with a couple of years ago, but had heard little from since.
To
Christine's left romps Catherine Capozzi who whales on her
guitar both visually and musically. In the rear, bopping
up and down with some kind of feather boa around her neck,
is beat master Tamora Gooding and in the shadows to the
right is the tall Christopher Farell playing a Les Paul
bass that looks six inches longer than any bass I've ever
seen (it's probably the drugs). The songs are alive with
guitar colors swarming around that Swiss-accented voice.
The
covers of the January tunes stand out to me, but that's
probably just because I'm familiar with them. Apparently
I'm not the only fan of this newly conceived line-up - the
response from the audience is more than lively.
