CD Review
Curvy Baby

AQM are nothing if not original and exciting. They do things most traditional rock bands are afraid to even think about, let alone attempt. Drum machines, loops and various keyboards throw their brand of rock in a unique direction, and while I'm not a huge fan of this style as it stands-the blending of techno and rock-I can't help but be fascinated by it. It's also a nice touch that the band provides a re-mix disc along with the "conventional" mixes. Vocally, Christine Zufferey bears a striking resemblance to Kristen Hersh and at times Dale Bozzio. These girls and one guy build landscapes of sound and paint pictures that I can't begin to understand. One of the more adventurous tracks is the cover of Led Zep's "Immigrant Song." I'm fairly certain that John Bonham would roll over in his grave if he heard what has been done with his beat. Don't be afraid of the Queens, they just dare to be different. - Shady
